English/Project
All of our English work is linked to our Project his week. The children will continue to learn all about animals but the focus will be pets. This children will be creating tally charts to find their favourite pets and also learning about what a let might need in order to thrive in the classroom. They will be asking scientific questions to find out information and will be testing some of their ideas. They may even be a visit from a pet…shhhh!
Maths
Year 1
This week the year 1 children will be learning about measuring. They will find out the difference between length and height and will compare different objects to see which is longer or shorter or taller and shorter. The children will be using cubes to investigate measuring objects and learn about the need to be careful and accurate, Then they will start to learn about measuring in centimetres.
At Home
Can you find out who is the tallest person in your house/family?
Can you choose some toys and order them from longest to shortest?
Perhaps you can draw the longest thing you find and the tallest person.
Year 2
Maths this week in year 2 has been about measuring. We have been doing lots of ruler work and recapping the language needed when talking about length and height.
We have been comparing and ordering things of different lengths, measuring accurately in cm and m and solving problems relating to length. Here is an interactive game you can have a go at at home…
