Dough Disco!

This week...

We have started Dough Disco! This is where each child has a ball of dough and we use our fingers to manipulate the dough to give our fingers a bit of a work out. This is all to music and the aim is to strengthen our muscles to prepare our hands for writing. The children have all joined in really well and seem to be enjoying dough disco! If you've got playdough at home then get your child to show you what we do!

We have been continuing to baseline the children to see what they know so that we know what we need to teach. We have also assessed their phonic knowledge and will be starting to teach phonics next week. There will be more information about phonics in next week's blog. Also, don't forget there is the phonics/ curriculum information session for parents on Monday 6th October in the school hall.

We have been having a daily story by Julia Donaldson. The children have really enjoyed seeing what the daily story will be.

We have been doing some fine motor work where the children go over a dotted line to make different patterns each day. This is to help them develop their pencil control skills. They have been doing brilliantly with this.

We have also been practising writing our names, thinking about where the letters start and how to form them correctly.  We have put a copy in your child’s book bag so that they can practise at home.

The children have continued to enjoy playing inside and outside.

Have a great weekend!
