The year 1 children have begun the book “The Secret Sky Garden” by Linda, Sarah and Fiona Lumbers. They spent some time sitting in the car park! And the staff garden to experience the way the different setting made them feel. They thought about how to keep the garden and school grounds looking beautiful and used “bossy” verbs to make posters. The children were then given a problem……….The ladies who help keep the garden looking beautiful and retiring. How can we persuade other people to come and givr their time to help? The children used adjectives to describe the garden and persuasive language to write a letter encouraging people to come an work in the garden.

This week we have been focussing on the “Teen” numbers, 11 - 19. We have counted pots of objects and sorted them into a pile of 10 and ones. We have found these numbers on a number line and looked closely at 1 more than and 1 less than any “teen numbers”. We have also practised writing the numbers in words.
Year 2
Year 2 children have been working through practise questions on all areas of our learning this year.
Project
Our new project is called “Street View”. It is an art based project and the children have been learning about the artist James Rizzi. They have looked closely at his work and used view finders to sketch small parts in detail. They have recapped the colour wheel and primary and secondary colours. Year 1 children have mixed paint to create their own houses and Year 2 children have used pens. All children have learned about collage and created their own house in the style of James Rizzi using coloured paper and black pens.
