Squirrels
Welcome to the Spring term . . .
In Squirrels class, our topic will be ‘Dinosaur Roar!'
The children will be going on an exciting learning journey back to the time of the dinosaurs! We’ll be exploring what these amazing creatures were like and where they lived. Together, we’ll create our own dinosaur eggs and learn new sculpture skills to make fantastic dinosaur art.
We’ll become little scientists as we look closely at fossils and discover the story of Mary Anning, the famous fossil hunter. We’ll also think about the habitats dinosaurs needed to survive and imagine what life was like millions of years ago.
There will be plenty of wonderful dinosaur books to enjoy too! We can’t wait to share stories, learn new facts, and talk about all the incredible things we find out.
It’s going to be a term full of creativity, curiosity, and fun as we stomp, roar, and explore the world of dinosaurs together!
As we move through the term we will have an International week when we will learn all about Nepal. We will find out about the similarities and differences between Nepal and the UK, including schools, homes, weather, food, traditions and music as well as exploring the famous landmarks of Nepal.
In the last two weeks of term we will learn about the Christian celebration of Easter and will visit our local Church to learn about the meaning of the Easter story and will take part in some Easter crafts. We will also learn about different places of worship and other religious beliefs and will virtually visit a Synagogue.
You will receive a topic web, which will show you in more detail the learning your child will be covering. Please check Tapestry regularly to see what your child has been up to in class and leave a comment if you would like to. We would love to see photos, comments and entries from you too, to share what you have been up to at home. We look forward to the term ahead and sharing our learning with you! If you have any questions, queries or worries, please don’t hesitate to speak to a member of our staff team either in person at the door, through Tapestry or via a phone call or email to the school office.

COOKING
Our cooking day will usually be on a Monday, however we often cook in class and enjoy trying our food together on the carpet. If we have food to send home, we will notify you by email beforehand, so you can send in a container if you would like to.
PE
Our Reception PE days will be Tuesday and Thursday. We ask that your child wears their PE kit to school on these days. Please could earrings be removed, and longer hair tied back on PE days. PE kit should include black shorts, a white t-shirt, plimsolls and black tracksuit bottoms or leggings.
Please also ensure that your child has spare clothing in their bags in case of any toilet accidents. These should be kept in school on your child’s coat peg.
Homework
Please read or share a book with your child at least three times a week and note this in their Reading Record.
Please support your child to complete the activities on Reading Eggs on a weekly basis.
Occasionally we may set simple topic-related challenges based on the children’s learning in class. If so, we will share these challenges with you via letter and on Tapestry.
