Former Pupil, David Bussey, Visits HHS
Mr Earl was delighted to welcome back a very special visitor to Hellesdon High School this week, David Bussey, who last walked our corridors 58 years ago!
After leaving school, David embarked on an incredible journey with two remarkable careers. He went straight from Hellesdon into the Royal Navy, before moving into the world of broadcasting. His career in radio began in commercial broadcasting in Scotland, followed by many successful years at the BBC, where he worked until retiring full-time in 2008.
His passion for radio didn’t stop there. He went on to teach Radio Production at the University of Lincoln, continuing to inspire the next generation until fully retiring as the COVID pandemic began.
It was fantastic to hear his stories of his time here, to hear how the school has changed, and see the lasting impact of a Hellesdon education. Thank you, David, for coming back to share your journey with us; you are always welcome here!
