Home/School Agreement

Hellesdon High School recognises that the successful development of its students depends on an effective partnership of school, students and families. All three parties share responsibility for the development and achievement of each student. Together, we commit ourselves to the following, in line with our school rules of ready respectful, safe:

  • Help students to maximise their potential by offering them a wide range of experiences and opportunities
  • Offer extra-curricular opportunities that will develop broader skills to prepare for life and the world of work 
  • Commit to every child making excellent progress to prepare them for next steps 
  • Use education to transform opportunities and enable everyone to fulfil their future ambitions 
  • Ensure that every student has the support, opportunities and guidance to be ready to learn 
  • Promote success by offering a curriculum that is rich in knowledge, coherent in sequence and based on a broad range of subjects

  • Offer a safe and caring community where the mental health of all is prioritised 
  • Provide a year system that allows all students to feel a sense of belonging

  • Provide trained safeguarding leads who support students with any concerns
  • Deliver a PSHE Curriculum that helps students to stay safe
  • Promote an anti-bullying culture across the school and respond to incidents when they are reported

 

Parents and Carers will:
Ready Respectful Safe
  • Understand and support the expectations we have for your child
  • Prioritise good attendance by supporting children to achieve an attendance of 95% or above 
  • Book medical appointments outside of school hours where possible
  • Ensure your child attends school in correct uniform 
  • Ensure your child arrives to school on time 
  • Ensure your child is properly equipped for the day 
  • Encourage your child to work hard and support them to complete home learning on time 
  • Engage with your child’s school report
  • Ensure you avoid term time holidays 
  • Refrain from contacting your child via their mobile phone/texting during the school day. Please use the main school office for messages.
  • Speak respectfully to all members of the school community 
  • Support the values and ethos of the school
  • Respect and support the school policies and guidelines, including the behaviour policy 
  • Encourage your child to participate in any extra-curricular opportunities offered by the school 
  • Attend parents evenings and discuss progress with your child 
  • Encourage your child to respect school rules and complete all associated sanctions 
  • Respect the school’s decisions and seek support from staff if you have a concern
  • Respect the school on social media and seek support from staff if you have a concern.

 

  • Report any safeguarding concerns
  • Have an awareness of what your child is accessing online 
  • Report absence before 8am 
  • Regularly Class Charts for positive and negative behaviour events and discuss with your child
  • Ensure your child has healthy sleep routines
  • Ensure your child has a healthy balanced diet
Students will:

  • Look after the school environment - keep it clean and litter free

  • Move sensibly around site, follow any one way systems 
  • Do all you can to promote equality and fairness 
  • Help others who may need it 
  • Make sensible choices online 
  • Keep hands, objects and inappropriate comments to yourself
  • Aspire to adhere to the Hellesdon High Standard

 

The Governors and Wensum Trust wish to emphasise that violence, threatening behaviour or abuse by students or parents/carers towards the school staff will not be tolerated.

If a parent/carer does not conduct themselves appropriately, the school may choose to restrict their access to school.
