Woodpeckers

Welcome to Woodpeckers Class!

Our topic for this term is Castles and Fairytales. The children will be learning lots about castles and their materials and will get to make a castle to bring home. We will look at the four countries that make up the UK and locate their castles and compare kings and queens from the past. In English we will be covering stories including; Cinderella, The Frog Prince, Jack and the Beanstalk and The Three Little Pigs

In addition to our topic we will also complete a variety of different learning activities during our New York themed week.

Please keep looking at Tapestry to see photos of our work.

PE

We have PE every Tuesday and Thursday. Please ensure that your child's PE kit is kept in school so that they have access to their PE kit at all times. Please also ensure that your child has spare clothing in their bags in case of any toilet accidents - These should be kept in school.
Please ensure earrings are removed on these days and that your child's hair is tied back.

COOKING

We do cooking on a Tuesday. Please ensure that your child has a labelled container in school each Monday so that they can take their delicious treats home.

HOMEWORK

Maths
Maths homework should now be completed on line using Maths Whizz. It is important that your child completes at least one hour of Maths Whizz per week. We will receive a report each week of how much time your child has spent on their homework.
If you have any problems with homework then please speak to Miss Dyball as soon as possible.

Spellings
Your child will receive a spelling grid with all the words they need to learn throughout the year. They will be assessed each half term and a new spelling grid will be sent home, highlighting the words they can successfully spell. Please continue to practice spellings throughout the year.

Reading
We will listen to your child read at least twice a week but we ask that children are heard reading at home three times a week and that their reading diary is signed each time. For every three reads your child will receive one sticker on their bookmark. Once their bookmark is full they will be able to choose a book of their choice to keep!
