MFL students visit Paris

Mr Valente recounts the MFL trip to Paris.
Our Paris trip started early at 3:00 AM as we boarded the coach from HHS. It was a long night and we were pleased to arrive at the port of Dover - for most, it was their very first time on a ferry! After a long journey, we arrived at our hotel in Paris at 3:00 PM and had time to relax.
On the first day we saw the Arc de Triomphe, then walked down the Champs-Élysées to the Place de la Concorde and the Tuileries Garden. At the Louvre Museum, we saw the Mona Lisa (La Joconde) and students tried their best to get lost in the big crowds, making Mr Valente run around like a headless chicken. Later, we went on a Bateau Mouche boat tour along the River Seine and waved at the locals relaxing by the water - it was nice to sit down after so long walking around the city. Before heading back to the hotel, our coach driver decided to surprise us and took us to the foot of the Eiffel Tower, which was a sight as it was beautifully lit up at night.
On the second day, we visited the area of Montmartre and went up to the Sacré-Cœur Basilica on a modern funicular, which didn't depend on the pulley system. Here students witnessed a real service taking place and did our school proud by showing incredible respect within this religious monument. Next, we walked through the Luxembourg Garden to Île de la Cité to take photos outside Notre-Dame Cathedral, which was still under repairs. We also stopped by Galeries Lafayette and went up to the rooftop terrace for a great view of the city from above.
On the last day, it was time for an early rise as we got in the coach again at 6 AM to travel back to Norwich to get some much-needed sleep after a busy and fun few days! Thank you Warren from Sanders Coaches for putting up with us, your humour and light heartedness made the trip all the more enjoyable.
