Hellesdon High School

Ofsted 2026

We are pleased to share our recent Ofsted report from our inspection on the 6th and 7th October 2026.

Hellesdon High School provides an inclusive community where pupils feel valued, supported and encouraged to ‘enjoy, achieve and succeed’, according to our school's latest Ofsted report.

The inspection at our school took place earlier this month and the inspectors' report highlighted a positive and orderly culture driven by dedicated staff and robust pastoral care.

According to the Ofsted inspectors, "parents are overwhelmingly positive about the school's caring ethos, dedicated staff, strong pastoral support and the opportunities provided for their children".

Inspectors also noted that pupils "value the strong relationships they have with staff and can readily identify trusted adults who will listen and provide support when needed," ensuring they "feel safe and learn in a calm, orderly environment."

The report commended leadership for maintaining "high expectations for all pupils" and demonstrating a "strong understanding of the needs of vulnerable groups".

Inspectors also observed that leaders "work proactively to remove barriers to learning so that pupils can achieve alongside their peers," ensuring that disadvantaged students and those with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND) benefit from targeted support.

Academic provision is underpinned by a "broad and increasingly ambitious curriculum" that effectively meets the needs of students, and inspectors observed that pupils "settle quickly, follow routines and engage positively with their learning".  This is further enriched by a wide range of clubs, educational visits, performances and careers activities that encourage full participation in school life.

The report also highlighted effective provision for pupils speaking English as an additional language, alongside a personal development programme that helps students understand diversity. Furthermore, staff reported that leaders are approachable, supportive and deeply committed to their wellbeing.

Helen Watts, Executive Headteacher, said: "We are delighted that this report recognises our school as an inclusive and supportive community where every pupil is valued, encouraged and challenged to succeed.

“Inspectors have highlighted the strong relationships between staff and pupils, the calm and orderly environment we have created, and the high-quality pastoral support that helps young people feel safe and confident in school.

“We are particularly pleased that the report reflects our ambition for every pupil to 'enjoy, achieve and succeed', regardless of their background or starting point. This outcome is a testament to the dedication of our staff, the support of our families and, most importantly, the hard work and positive attitude of our pupils."

Daniel Thrower, CEO of the Wensum Trust, added: "This report is a wonderful endorsement of the work taking place at Hellesdon High School and the unwavering commitment of staff and leaders to putting pupils first.

“Inspectors have recognised a school where high expectations are matched by strong pastoral care, where barriers to learning are actively removed, and where every young person is supported to thrive. It is especially encouraging to see recognition of the school's inclusive culture, the confidence pupils have in staff and the extensive range of opportunities available both in and beyond the classroom.

“On behalf of Wensum Trust, I would like to congratulate everyone at Hellesdon High School on this achievement and thank them for their dedication to delivering the very best outcomes for young people."
