Biology Week Success!

Following on from the amazing Biology Week that marked the end of our last half-term, two more competitions were run to encourage the students to consider their own biological ideas.

The first competition was won by Esther in Year 7! This competition asked students to design a new human body part that serves an original purpose. Esther really impressed the judges by coming up with giant green wings that can photosynthesise, which would let humans fly like birds, as well as use sunlight to make free food, just like plants do. A massive well done to Esther!

The second competition was won by Oscar in Year 11! This competition asked students to create their own artwork of a creature of their choice. Oscar's incredible attention to detail and precise pencil work stood out to the judges, as well as the immediately evident time and effort put into the fabulous winning piece - congratulations Oscar!

A huge thank you to George in Year 13, who spearheaded the Biology Week celebrations at HHS in 2025! From imaginative Petri-dish designs to lively Biology-themed spelling bees, his brilliant ideas and boundless enthusiasm brought Biology to life beyond the curriculum. George’s leadership inspired students across all year groups, making the week a truly memorable celebration of science in action.
