Tree takes centre stage at festive celebration
It was a magical occasion when children at Kinsale Infant School began the countdown to Christmas with a special Tree Dressing assembly.
All 110 children from Reception to Year 2 took part in the ceremony, with each pupil choosing a bauble to place on the Christmas tree in the school hall.
“Each child placed a bauble on the tree to welcome in December and all the magic it will bring,” explained the school’s Office Manager Marie Clarke. “During the event, we were joined by members of the Hellesdon Parochial Church Council, who told the story of the first Christmas, and led the children in some beautiful festive singing.”
The event was organised by Headteacher Bethan Clennell, and has long been an annual fixture on the calendar at the school.
“Our assembly was a community-led celebration retelling the story of Christmas, as well as enjoying the tradition of dressing the tree for the festive season,” she said. “The highlights were the whole school singing together and creating a beautiful, festive atmosphere,” added Mrs Clarke.
“Events like these are so important to bring the whole school together in celebration, and for children to understand the meaning of Christmas and where it all began.”
