Festive fundraiser at Wensum Trust high school

It was cardies for good causes when students at one of our high schools swapped their usual uniforms for festive knitwear to raise money for charity.

All year groups at Hellesdon High School took part in Christmas Jumper Day yesterday (Thursday 11 December), with the aim of collecting £500 for Save the Children’s annual appeal.

“It’s important to us as a school to support charitable causes such as Save the Children, so our students can contribute to something larger than themselves, and to encourage empathy and awareness of global issues that affect children that could be the same age as they are,” said Behaviour and Rewards Administrator Danielle Mascall, who helped to organise the event.

“It’s a fun way for us and the students to get involved, as they always love a non-uniform day. It promotes inclusivity and positivity within the school, and encourages students to express their personality.”

It was the first time that Hellesdon had taken part in the fundraiser. “Events like this are incredibly important, as they help us to support charities,” added Assistant Principal Vaughan Stevenson. “Children like to give back to the community, and this is a lovely way for them to help support the most vulnerable in society.”
