EAL Wheelbarrow Garden Blooms at the Royal Norfolk Show

We are delighted to share that our school has entered the School Garden Competition at this year's Royal Norfolk Show!

This exciting project has brought together a group of our EAL (English as an Additional Language) pupils, who have worked hard to grow, nurture and care for our competition entry over the past few months. The children have been involved in planting, watering, designing and maintaining the garden, developing their gardening skills while working collaboratively as a team.

Our wheelbarrow garden is inspired by the beautiful poem Yellow by Donna Ashworth, which celebrates kindness, friendship, belonging and the people who bring warmth and light into our lives. These themes resonate strongly with our EAL community, reflecting the supportive environment we strive to create within our school.

The garden bursts with vibrant yellow flowers, alongside a colourful mix of plants chosen to represent diversity, growth and connection. A display featuring an extract from the poem invites visitors to reflect on the message of encouragement and positivity that inspired our design.

The project has provided a wonderful opportunity for pupils to develop confidence, creativity and teamwork while contributing to a shared goal. We are incredibly proud of the care, dedication and enthusiasm shown by everyone involved.

A huge thank you to all the children and staff who helped bring our vision to life. We look forward to sharing the results of the competition and celebrating this fantastic achievement together.

If you are visiting the Royal Norfolk Show, please take a moment to visit the School Garden Competition and look out for our EAL wheelbarrow garden. We'd be delighted if you could show your support by casting your vote for our entry. Every vote is a wonderful way to recognise the hard work and creativity of our pupils.

Good luck to all the schools taking part!
