Class of 2026 celebrate in style

From sports cars to tractors, students from a Wensum Trust school arrived in style for their end-of-year Prom.

The Class of 2026 from Hellesdon High School were also dressed to impress for the occasion at Wensum Valley Hotel, Golf and Country Club, with a dazzling array of colourful ball gowns, cocktail dresses, and evening suits on show.

Around 165 Year 11 leavers attended the celebration, where refreshments included soft drinks and a buffet, and entertainment was provided in the form of a DJ disco and a mini awards ceremony.

Mike Reid is Head of Key Stage 4 at the school, and was among the staff involved in the event.

“It is important that pupils have an opportunity to get glammed up and celebrate 12 years of education and an intensive month of exams,” he said.

“This is a reward for all of their countless hours and evenings spent preparing for the next stage of their journey into adulthood.”

He praised the cohort, adding: “They’ve been our best year group during the exam season since I have worked at Hellesdon High School. Their attitude and persistence to improve themselves has been really impressive.

“We are all incredibly proud of them and their achievements. We hope this was a fun evening, and we eagerly await to see them once more on Results Day in August.”
