Festive fun for Wensum Trust children
Christmas Jumpers were very much the order of the day at a Wensum Trust school which joined forces with others across two counties for a special project.
Children at Garrick Green Infant School took part in an event organised by the Norfolk and Suffolk Music Hub and have been filmed as part of the fundraiser.
Organised by Chris Warren, the music co-ordinator at St Matthew’s Church School in Ipswich, the project gives thousands of children from both counties the opportunity to be part of a video to raise awareness for Save the Children.
“Chris has written a piece entitled Christmas Jumper Day and asked schools across the two counties to submit either photos or videos of students wearing a Christmas jumper which can be included in the video,” said Liz Banner, head of School.
“Although it is entitled Christmas Jumper Day, the song does not have any religious content, it celebrates young people coming together in their coloured jumpers. The first line of the song is ‘Not everybody celebrates Christmas day. If it’s ‘cos your religion, then that’s OK.’”
A total of 116 children from the school’s Years 1 and 2 took part in the festive event and Garrick Green Infant School hopes to raise around £150 - similar to previous years.
