‘Snow business’ like an end-of-term party

Old traditions met new, when a Wensum Trust high school held its annual Snow Ball, bringing the term to a fittingly festive close.

“The Snow Ball is a modern take on the old Christmas disco,” explained Vaughan Stevenson, Assistant Principal at Hellesdon High School. “Students in Years 7 and 8 are invited to attend for some dancing, playing games, and generally having a nice time.

“Sixth formers help organise the event, and they use it to raise money for their Sixth Form Ball and their chosen charity.”

It was the third time the Snow Ball had taken place at the school, with this year’s event taking place on on Wednesday 17 December and attended by around 200 students.

The event was supported by Leadership Team Members and Heads of Year, including Mike Earl, Allison McLellan, Ro Mason, Niall Cole, Niall Sully, Richard Taylor, Stuart Bailey, Morganne Auffray, Mike Reid, Mark King, and Louise Rowe.

“It’s a lovely way of rewarding students after a long term,” added Mr Stevenson. “They enjoy the festive spirit, with dancing, singing, and eating.”
