Assistant SENDCo

The Wensum Trust is seeking to appoint a highly motivated and conscientious colleague to join our SEND department at Acle Academy.

Salary: Scale E Point 7 - £13,794
Hours: 22.5 hours per week over 3 days, 8:30-4:30 with 30 minutes unpaid for lunch per day (alongside 12 hours, over 2 days, as a TA with the majority of TA workload being admin)

Weeks: 39 weeks per year (term time + 1)
Contract: Permanent
Required for: March 2026

We are looking for a passionate and conscientious Assistant SENDCo to work in our school, with the ability to work as part of a team as well as the capacity to use initiative. The job profile will include supporting students in Inspire along with the day-to-day management of this base. In addition to this, the successful candidate will be required to create student SEND plans, conduct SEND reviews and also prepare and run EHCP annual review meetings.

In addition to this, the successful candidate will also be responsible for completing medical needs administration, creating medical plans and organising vaccinations. Knowledge of first aid will also be essential in this role.

An interest in working with students with a wide range of special educational needs, including emotional, social and mental health needs is essential, together with a caring, flexible and common sense approach.

This post will involve working with children with SEND with a range of abilities. We are looking for candidates with the potential to be outstanding and would like to hear from both experienced practitioners and those new to the profession.
