Textiles

Textiles Technology is a creative and technical subject building lifelong skills.

Textiles - Education and experience

Textiles students combine practical and technological skills with creative thinking to design and make items which meet human needs. During Key Stage 3 students can expect to develop their knowledge and understanding of materials and processes in textiles. They will be required to respond to user- centred design briefs and produce their own design specifications. Students will learn how to work safely, use the sewing machine, select materials based on their properties and embellish fabrics using printing, applique, mola, machine stitching and CAD embroidery.

In Year 7 students make a Planner cover, in Year 8 a cushion and Year 9 a bag.
