11th December 2023 Olive and Jade Blog

This week...

We are in full Nativity mode. We have our dress rehearsal on Tuesday afternoon where the whole school and volunteers will come and watch. Then the children will be performing to Jade class parents on Wednesday at 9.10 and then to Olive class parents on Thursday at 9.10. The nativity show will last about half an hour. The children have worked really hard learning all of their lines, the songs and knowing when to stand up/sit down and come out on stage. We really hope you enjoy their show.

In phonics the Year ones are long vowels and magic e and Reception are doing short vowels and ck. We will try to hear them all read this week as we have finished the phonic assessments. You might find that they are on slightly different books which will be inline with how they got on during the assessments.

We will continue with story scribes and acting them out at the end of the day. We will also be reading lots of Christmassy stories.

In maths we are continuing to assess the children but we will practise counting, showing a number from 1 - 5 using our fingers and revising pairs of numbers that make 5.

In project this week the children will be having a go at making a vehicle with a fixed axel and wheels.

In your child's bookbag on Friday there will be all the sounds on flashcards (that you can cut out) that we have covered so far so the children can practise over the holidays so the children become really familiar and confident with these, especially the digraphs as they are more tricky! There will also be letter formation sheets for the children to do both the individual sounds and the tricky words. Please also keep reading over the holidays!

Have a good week!
