This week...

We are starting our new project - Marvellous Machines for the last part of this half term. We will be looking at how things work and learning about inventors. We will be learning about how machines can help us and what engineers do. We will be comparing machines from the past and looking at the modern equivalents.

Rosie Revere Engineer – Eeny Meeny    Izzy Gizmo and the Invention Convention – Simba and Sloane Ltd

In phonics EYFS are learning oi, ue, er, and ar and we will focus on blending and segmenting skills. The Year ones are learning about short vowels and double letters.

We will continue to do story scribes, letter formation practice and the Year ones are continuing to do their daily dictated sentence.

In maths we are continuing to look at subitising and getting the children to explain how they know e.g. because I can see one and one and one and that makes three. We will also look at the order of numbers and talk about 1st, 2nd, 3rd. We will look at 5 objects and if we put some in a box there are still 5 things even though you can't see them because we have not taken any away or added any more. We will look at representing numbers by drawing and writing numbers.  We will also keep looking at how we can make 5 and all the related addition and subtraction facts.

We are continuing to practise our songs for the nativity, no doubt some of you might have heard some of the songs at home! t=The children are really good so we are hoping for a lovely show!

In RSHE we will be looking at making friends and the children will have their weekly mindfulness and yoga session.

In RE we are having the story 'The Shepherd Girl of Bethlehem' to give the children an introduction to the nativity.

It's the Flu Vaccinations tomorrow.

Have a good week
