SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities)

Here at Acle Academy we have a superb team of highly competent Teaching Assistants and HLTAs led by Miss Lisa Frary our SENDCo and her assistant, Mrs Julie Swain. The SEND team have specialisms in a variety of areas including ADHD; Autism; Dyslexia (and related specific learning difficulties); Welllbeing and Mental Health and Visual and Hearing impairments. The team are actively engaged in supporting teachers in teaching and learning both in and out of the classroom.

Our mantra is to make our young people as independent and resilient as possible, especially by the end of Year 11, thereby preparing them to cope with the demands of 6th Form, college and the outside world.

Our SEND students make good academic progress but they are more than academic statistics to us. We firmly believe in supporting the wellbeing of our youngsters holistically so you will find our SEND area is a haven for emotional as well as academic support.

Our SEND area, or the Building Learning Zone is part of the ‘Inspire’ building, which also houses our school’s library.

It can be a sanctuary for any student but it is also a place of fun where students can relax before morning registration, during break and lunchtime every day. Additionally, small groups of students are withdrawn to the Building Learning Zone for small intervention groups.

Come and see for yourself. How do you measure a friendly, caring school? Our results speak for themselves but we will never be complacent. We are constantly striving to be even better.

We are proud of our reputation and will always ensure that Every Child Matters here at Acle Academy.
