Acle Academy

Duke of Edinburgh Award

The DofE is all about going the extra mile – gaining new skills, pushing yourself physically, helping others and exploring new territories. At the same time, you’ll gather friendships, experiences and memories that will last a lifetime. It doesn’t matter who you are or where you’re from, as long as you’re in Year 9 or above, you can choose the activities that motivate you and go on your own personal journey.

We know from other participants that the DofE helps you stand out from the crowd when you apply for college, university or jobs. Ready to find out what the DofE could do for you?

Ready to find out what the DofE could do for you?

Many young people find achieving a DofE Award life-changing. A fun adventure and major challenge, three progressive Award levels (Bronze, Silver and Gold) and a wide range of activities offer endless possibilities to anyone from school year 9 to age 24. Millions of young people in the UK have already taken part in the world’s leading youth achievement award – pushing personal boundaries, gaining new skills and enhancing their CVs and university applications. The DofE gives you the chance to do something completely new or improve on things you’re already doing.

The DofE expedition section is an opportunity to challenge your skills and stamina. It takes you out of your comfort zone and into a place where you’ll push yourself and have amazing new experiences. You will take on responsibility for navigation, meal planning, cooking and camp craft working as part of a team to complete a self-sufficient exploration of an area. Previous participants have commented that though the expedition section has been a challenge it has also lead to the greatest sense of achievement. You will receive training in all these skills from Acle Academy staff and gain confidence in your own ability.

Looking forward, the DofE can help you to carve out a better future. Colleges, universities and employers regard a DofE Award highly so it will help to open the right doors for you. If you’re keen to get off the sofa and put 100% into something that could change your life, the DofE is for you.
