3DW: Offshore Wind Farm
Year 8 students experienced an interactive workshop by 3DW.
The workshop aims to boost young people’s confidence with a cross-over of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) skills, careers and a variety of employability skills.
In small teams, pupils experienced what it is like to work on a wind farm development project for the day. The teams created their own ‘company’ with each member having a specific role such as Project Manager, Financial Manager, Technical Adviser or Public Relations (PR) Consultant. They then worked collaboratively to plan and design a wind farm layout considering real-life constraints and obstacles.
