GCSEs 2026: Smiles all round for Acle Academy

There were smiles all round as staff and students from Acle Academy celebrated this year’s GCSE results.
Our Class of 2026 achieved impressive grades across a wide range of academic and vocational subjects, including English and Maths, paving the way for their next steps into A-Levels, vocational courses, apprenticeships, and further education.
Among the top performers at our school was Toby Bicker with seven Grade 9s, one 8, and one 7. “I'm really pleased with my results, and surprised by how well I did in History,” he said.
He was joined by Isla Smithson with five Grade 9s and three Grade 7s; Catherine Scott with three Grade 9s, four Grade 8s, and two Grade 6s; Matthew Peters with two Grade 9s, three Grade 8s, one 7, and three 6s; and Sophie Hamilton attained three Grade 9s, two Grade 8s, and two Grade 7s.
Others celebrating included Alex Whitehouse and Gracie Bell.
“Im absolutely chuffed with my results, and so happy that I passed all of my subjects,” said Alex, while classmate Gracie added: “I’m so grateful to all the staff for the support they gave me in Year 11, and I’m so happy with my results.”
Joe Sayce is Assistant Principal for Progress at our school, which is part of the Wensum Trust.
"We are incredibly proud of our Year 11 pupils and everything they have achieved,” he said. “This is an exceptional cohort who have shown remarkable spirit, determination and resilience throughout their time at the school.
“Their results are a reflection of the hard work and commitment they have put in, both individually and collectively, as well as the fantastic way they have worked collaboratively with one another and with their teachers.
“We have always known that this was a special year group, and today is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate every single one of them. They should be immensely proud of what they have achieved."
Our Executive Principal, Helen Watts, added: “We are immensely proud of our students today. These results are a true reflection of their determination, grit, and enthusiasm for learning. Beyond the grades on paper, this cohort has shown incredible character and ambition, and we have no doubt they will go on to achieve great things in the future.
“We owe an enormous debt of gratitude to our fantastic team of teachers and support staff, whose unwavering dedication and expertise have guided our students every step of the way. Equal thanks must go to our parents and carers — their continuous support, encouragement, and partnership at home have been
instrumental in making today’s success possible.
Acle Academy wishes the entire Class of 2026 every success in their future endeavours.
