Y10 Careers Drop-Down Day
On Thursday 27th April our year 10 cohort took part in a Careers Drop down day. The day focused around meeting different local employers and gaining insight into the ever changing world of work and different employment sectors available currently.
Students had the opportunity to learn about different industries as well as the different career paths taken by our visitors. They met with Sophie Miller, a fashion designer with over 25 years’ experience in the industry and currently working for a local company, Yarmouth Oilskins. The students loved learning more about the design and production elements and trying on the clothes.
Representatives from Lovell came in to teach the students about the range of careers within the construction industry. We were also visited by former Acle student, Chris Page from ITV news and Kevin Webster from Oyster Yachts.
Finally, for student wellbeing we had the pleasure to welcome in Sarah McPherson from Miniature Donkeys which enabled students to explore both the voluntary sector and self-employment. The students thoroughly enjoyed meeting the donkeys and having some hands-on experience.
Thank you to all our visitors for your support with helping us to provide a varied careers curriculum for our students. If you are a parent and would like to get in touch about supporting the careers provision at Acle Academy in any way we would love to hear from you.
