Netball Finals 27/03/2020

On Thursday night, the Year 9 and 10 teams travelled to Lynn Grove for their final matches of the season, with the Year 9s knowing a win would secure a league victory and the 10s at least a runners-up spot.

The Year 9s were up first and started the game at an electric pace. Beth, Molly and Ysabell were all over the court supplying Sophia and Izzy who both took a while to get their eye in with their shooting. Despite this, they still took many chances to establish a healthy lead. In the following quarters, Sophia and Izzy were on fire with their shooting and scored time and time again. As usual, Evie, Millie, Megan and Eva defended astutely with the latter making a huge number of interceptions. Captain Beth was simply outstanding in this match and drove her teammates onto victory, which she has done all year. Acle continued to attack throughout the second half and eventually ran out 18-3 winners to clinch the school's first Yarmouth Schools League championship.

The school and I are so proud of all the girls for giving such commitment to their netball this year. We are excited to see how much further they can push themselves and compete with the other top teams in the county. This championship is fully deserved and all down to them, well done all!

The year 10s were up second and again started with great speed around the court, which set up Helena and Izzy to score expertly. Martha in Centre was finding a good range of passes and worked hard in defence and attack. Beth, playing in WA for the older year, was her usual tireless self, setting up attack after attack. Special mention has to go to Daisy and Millie in the GK and WD positions who defended brilliantly alongside Eva as they made it a near impossible match for the Lynn Grove attack with their relentless pressure on the ball, interceptions and tight marking. The girls continued the tide of attack all the way to the end and finished the game with a spectacular 27-5 victory to clinch the second place position and book their place at the county finals on 28th March at UEA Sports Park.

Well done to all the girls!
