Acle Academy

Y11 rugby match at Reepham

On Wednesday, the Year 11 team made the long journey to Reepham for a 15 aside match and produced a fantastically determined performance to win the game. Acle got off to the worst of starts when a loose ball was seized upon and the hosts ran through to score. Similar to the victory against Flegg on their last outing, this was the wake up call the boys needed and from that moment they never looked back.

Excellent work from Joseph and Hayden resulted in Harley powering across the line to score Acle's first try. Joseph demonstrated his excellent kicking to convert the resulting kick. Harley then scored a second converted try before fly half Joseph kicked an excellent penalty to stretch the lead further. Just before the break, Reepham scored an unconverted try to bring the score back. The front row of Bob, Harvey, Tyler, Tom, Jake, Djinn and Oliver were brilliant in the rucks and scrums throughout the game which enabled our powerful and pacey backs to penetrate the lines.

In particular, Oliver was tireless throughout and worked exceptionally hard for the team. Captain Hayden, playing in 12, had a superb match through his driving runs and quick passing to set up opportunities to score. Special mention to Josh B playing scrum half for the first time as he controlled the ball out of the breakdown expertly. These key players were pivotal in a second half performance which firstly saw Tyler drive forward to set up Hayden to score, then Felix powered through after may phases to put the icing on a very good team performance and make the score Reepham 10-27 Acle.

Well done boys!
