This week...

We are learning about what makes an animal a reptile, a bird or a mammal. We will look at the book 'A First Book of Animals' to help us - we have used this book in project quite a lot so far and it is such a lovely book. We will have different animals to sort into the 3 groups based on what we learn.

A First Book of Animals

We will then read Monkey Puzzle and match animal babies to their parents. As part of project we will be looking at the project books and looking at what we have learned so far and whet we have enjoyed in all the different projects.

We will continue to write a dictated sentence every day and carry on with story scribing. The children are still completing early morning work where they write a word or a sentence to go with a picture. The daily stories continue with the animal theme.

In phonics Reception are learning alternatives for the long a sound - ay, ai, a_e e.g. stay, snail, snake. The Year 1s are learning about the alternative for the long i sound - ie, i_e, igh, y e.g. shine, high, try, pie.

In Maths we are looking at double numbers. We will also be going over the part whole model so the children are getting a really good understanding of the different parts a number can be made up of.

In RSHE the children will be talking about how to make friends and also how it feels when you are lonely. In RE we will be learning about the wonders of the world. The children will do their weekly yoga and mindfulness session.

Please try to make sure that your child has a complete set of spare clothes at school.

Have a good week!
