Year 11

The students will continue to develop their programming skills during Year 11.  Programming continues to be embedded throughout the course, with the students having many opportunities to practice and develop their programming skills.

The student will study how units, numbers, keyboard characters, images and sound are represented in binary

The student’s programming input will be string manipulation as well as reading and writing to files
 

Students will learn how to prevent attacks to computer vulnerabilities.

Programming languages and integrated development environments

 

The students will learn about the differences between high-level and low-level computer languages and also learn the features of integrated development environments (IDEs)

Programming will look at additional techniques such as records and the use of SQL to search for data

System Software Programming fundamentals, additional programming techniques and revision

 

 

Ethical, legal and environmental concerns and revision

 

Students will learn how different operating systems and utility systems work with the computer systems 
The students use this term to embed their programming skills as well as practicing recall skills

 

 

Impact of technology on different aspects of life and the legislation behind it as well as practicing their recall skills
