In 2014 the government switched ICT to a new Computing curriculum that goes way beyond machines and software and focuses on the ideas and principles of computers. 

The GCSE gives students the opportunity to learn everything from the inner workings of a computer system through to the language humans use to operate computers which in turn instruct machines.
